75 YEARS
OF OUR NHS
Nursing

We are helping to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our remarkable NHS, which reaches its major milestone on 5 July. Over the years, Team Teesside has helped contribute to the enduring success of the health service through innovative course provision, strategic partnerships and, most of all, a pipeline of talented and dedicated graduates who have gone on to make their mark in the NHS.

Here we are proud to highlight some of the success stories and people we have featured over the years, detail how we continue to innovate and support health provision and outline what the NHS means to our staff, students and alumni.

"I work as part of the NHS talking therapies service and treat patients with a range of different mental health conditions. I love working for the NHS. BSc (Hons) Nursing
Nursing Associate

"I have always wanted to progress in my career, but ill health has stopped me doing so in the past. In 2007 I was diagnosed with cervical cancer aged 31 and then a relapse of appendix cancer in 2015. I haven't let any of this stop me and I am proud of how far I have come - also providing mentorship to others starting their journey. The NHS saved my life and this is my way of giving something back."

Helen Watts

BSc (Hons) Radiography
Diagnostic Radiographer

"Since my degree at Teesside I have been working as a Diagnostic Radiographer at South Tees NHS Trust. I have since completed my Masters degree and published this work in an international peer reviewed journal. I am also a Visiting Scholar at Teesside University and love coming back to guest lecture. I have always been passionate about the NHS, the radiography profession and upskilling our workforce."
