Why Teesside?

I chose to study my master’s in applied data science at Teesside University as the course leaders were welcoming and supportive when I attended a postgraduate open day. The course material and delivery methods are very well designed, and this attracted me to the course. After working for 6 years I was looking for course material that was engaging and thought provoking and this course was perfect.

Favourite thing about your course?

The modules are relevant and well designed. This allows me to stay focused and understand the content better. Also, the support from the course leader and lecturers is great, they are always available if you have any questions or are struggling work. Modules are taught differently, and the variety is great as you don’t feel like you are repeating the same things.

How are the campus facilities?

The facilities are excellent. The staff in every building are really helpful and make sure you get what you need.

What do you think about Middlesbrough?

Middlesbrough is a great place to live, I have lived here for 7 years. Everything is really close by and affordable and there are plenty of activities to do in your spare time. The town and surrounding areas are beautiful, and the people make you feel very welcoming.

What skills have you gained at Teesside?

Skills such as data research, data analysis and data visualisation will help me in my chosen field. The course goes in-depth and knowing the information to this level of detail helps greatly in a competitive field. This course has also not only increased my knowledge but has also made me more enthusiastic about the field and has made me want to explore these subjects further.

Ambitions for the future?

I am very keen to learn more about data science before I move into a career in the data science field. Along with securing a job that suits my skills, experience, and qualifications, I hope to start a PhD at Teesside University in the comping years to further advance my understanding of data science.

Would you recommend Teesside?

I highly recommend the MSc Applied Data Science course to anyone looking to learn more about the subject. The course is well designed and delivered by lecturers who are experts in the field and who are also passionate about helping you achieve your goals. Teesside is well-equipped with state of the art facilities and the location of the campus makes commuting quick and easy.
