The Digital Skills for Growth project is an exciting programme delivering short courses in a range of digital technologies to schools in County Durham (excluding Durham). We will be hosting a Teacher Roadshow on Friday 25th October 2019 to introduce the project and provide an opportunity for you to find out more about what digital technologies are available and how you can include these easily into your teaching.
The day will include 2 hour Taster Sessions delivered in the morning and afternoon in the following subjects: Introduction to JAVA, Introduction to Python, Cyber Security for Primary Schools, Cyber Security for Secondary Schools, 2D Animation, Creating Concept Art or Augmented Reality.
The day will start with a 30 minute presentation from Miles Berry a Principal Lecturer and Subject Leader for Computer Education from the University of Roehampton. Miles has a wealth of knowledge in relation to the use of technology in education, having worked as a Head and Deputy Head within a school setting and having pioneered the use of Moodle and Elgg in primary education.
A second guest speaker, Rob Gamesby of Cool Geography, also Head of Geography of St Mary's School in Newcastle, will talk about how he has used digital technology to revolutionise the teaching of Geography with his pupils.
In the auditorium, throughout the day there will be demonstrations on readily available digital tools such as Padlet, Trello and Micro:Bit.
We look forward to seeing you on the day.
