See the facilities you use when you study computer games at Teesside University

You learn through a combination of live sessions, pre-recorded material and allocated tasks. For each session you are introduced to individual tasks with the latter part of the session focusing on live feedback and guidance on a group and individual basis. You use Microsoft Teams as the primary interface.

Course details

What you study

- creation of 3D assets, materials, particles and audio for games
- suitable file formats, compression settings and sizes used for game engines, when creating scenes
- import, manage and implement assets into a contemporary game engine.

Your practical sessions introduce techniques and building on the understanding of scene creation for a small scale game environment. You receive weekly verbal feedback on your progress. You also receive peer review and critiques at various points to aid your development.

How you are assessed

You are assigned tasks at the end of each live session, and your assessment is a single summative submission at the end of the final week.

Minimum hardware and software requirements

- Desktop PC or Mac.
- Windows 7 64-bit or Mac OS X 10.9. 2 or later.
- Quad-core Intel or AMD processor, 2.5 GHz or faster.
- NVIDIA GeForce 470 GTX or AMD Radeon 6870 HD series card or higher.
- 8 GB RAM.
- Unreal Engine 4.26.2 (available once you have registered for an account)

As this is an online course you need access to a computer and be comfortable learning through an online platform. A strong and stable internet connection is required, and a webcam and microphone to participate in any interactive elements of the course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
