Introduction to Concept Art (Online)

Had a good idea for a game, animation, film or television programme and didn’t know how to develop it? This course helps you to explore your creative skills and you learn how to take your initial idea and develop it into final images suitable for presentation.

You learn through live sessions through our online learning platform. Tutor support is available throughout the specified weekly times.

Age restriction
Due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. All applicants under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment must provide a completed parental consent form and those under 16 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Course details

What you study

- drawing applied in the context of the concept artist
- imaginative drawing
- traditional and/or digital drawing
- incorporating visual research into drawing
- use of thumbnailing and roughs
- developing the ability to create a range of iterations
- experimentation
- visual research.

How you are assessed

Assessment is through your portfolio of artwork.

You receive a tailored brief which defines the expectations of the assessment.

 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

You require access to either traditional drawing materials and the ability to photograph or photocopy, or digital drawing equipment and software.

As this is an online course you need access to a computer and be comfortable learning through an online platform. A strong and stable internet connection is required, and a webcam and microphone to participate in any interactive elements of the course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
