This course is designed for staff within the children’s social care workforce, including social workers and those from related professions.

You gain the skills required to assess risk and need across the continuum of need, with particular focus on thresholds for intervention and escalation where there are safeguarding concerns.

What you study

This course aims to:

- consider risks we all take in life and how we calculate our own risk-taking behaviour
- explore and define risk factors; static, dynamic, acute, and consider where we can best intervene
- introduce and practice using some risk-assessment tools
- explore approaches, methods, tools and theories in relation to risk assessment
- identify messages from serious case reviews in relation to risk management
- introduce outcomes-based planning

This course is non-accredited.
