Angela King

What do you most enjoy about teaching at Teesside?

I enjoy that no two days are ever the same. Meeting students from so many different backgrounds keeps me on my toes and means that I’m never bored!

How do your students benefit from your experience?

I have contributed teaching to courses across the Department in Law, Policing and Investigation, and this has allowed me to gain different perspectives of my areas of expertise. I have been able to use this to continuously review and update my teaching, and to share these differing perspectives with my students.

How has your research/experience enhanced your teaching?

My research interests are focussed on human rights, specifically, the right to a fair trial. I use this in my teaching to encourage students to think about things from different angles. I think it’s important for my students to understand why every person should have the right to a fair trial and why, in some circumstances, this might be challenging.

What has been the highlight of your career?

Meeting Baroness Hale.

What is the best piece of advice you have for your students?

Enjoy it - the time flies by and it’s over before you know it.
