What do you most enjoy about teaching at Teesside?

I enjoy the enthusiasm, fresh ideas and wealth of experience within the student and staff community at Teesside; no two days are ever the same and it is a privilege to be able to work at Teesside.

How do your students benefit from your experience?

I qualified as a solicitor in 2014, and my experience in legal practice gives our students the opportunity to develop the employability skills that they will go on to use in practice. Students benefit from my experience in our Law Clinic, where they work on real client cases under my supervision and mentorship.

How has your research/experience enhanced your teaching?

My experience of working in litigation for a range of sized law firms, from high street to commercial, enables me to provide an insight into legal practice, the profession and guidance on embarking on a career in law from each end of the spectrum.

What has been the highlight of your career?

My work in the Law Clinic is a constant career highlight, the pro bono legal help that we provide to our community through this invaluable legal advice service is incomparable and the mentoring of our students in the early stages of their legal careers is very rewarding.

What is the best piece of advice you have for your students?

Approach every challenge with optimism and see it as an opportunity, don’t be deterred if it does not go your way as it is always an opportunity to reflect, learn and grow.
