Former F1 race engineer Rob Smedley has 30 years of experience in the world of motor racing, having worked with multiple F1 teams including Jordan, Ferrari and Williams.
After spending time in roles as F1 consultant and director of data systems, developing and deploying data strategy for the sport, Rob went on to become the CEO and founder of motorsport engineering business, Smedley Group.
Rob was awarded an honorary Doctor of Professional Studies from Teesside University in 2009 in recognition of services to motor sport and technology.
And now Middlesbrough-born Rob is returning to Teesside University as the latest guest speaker to join our In Conversation series.
In Conversation with Rob Smedley will be held on Tuesday 5 March, at 6.30pm, in the Students’ Union. The event is open to all, with an early bird discount ticket price of £4 available until February 27.
The In Conversation series has previously welcomed notable speakers from the worlds of sport, culture, and business, including rugby legend Rory Underwood MBE DL, media mogul Dominic Carter, best-selling author Adele Parks MBE, iconic car designer Marek Reichman, professional boxer Savannah Marshall. In addition, acclaimed film director, writer and producer Franc Roddam will take to the stage for In Conversation in June.
