Virtual Heritage goes on Show

13 September 2000

The University of Teesside is supporting the Civic Trust’s Heritage Open Days this weekend, by throwing open to the public its prestigious Virtual Reality Centre.

Local residents can attend demonstrations inside the Virtual Reality HemispheriumTM – a giant curved screen which projects three dimensional images – and access sites of cultural, architectural and historic interest in a virtual world. Sites of interest include Gisborough Priory and Middlesbrough Town Centre.

Capacity is limited to 22 people for each virtual experience and shows will run hourly between 11am to 3pm, on both Saturday 16 September and Sunday 17 September. The VR Centre is situated inside the University’s Innovation and Virtual Reality Centre – the space-age building next to the Evening Gazette offices on Borough Road, Middlesbrough.
