Meet our new Students’ Union Officers

Teesside University Students’ Union is proud to welcome three new Student Officers who will work to amplify the student voice and further improve the university experience.

For the first time, all three Student Officers are international students which reflects Teesside’s position as a global institution, and they will play a key role in shaping our diverse university community.

The three new Student Officers are Eby Eldho (President Education), Nigil Narayanan Thathron (President Activities) and Femi Abolade (President Welfare).

Their job is to represent students on the issues that matter to them and ensure students are supported and get the best possible experience from university.

The Student Officers were chosen by their fellow students and took office in July 2022.

Teesside is an international university with a global network of partnerships, working with universities across Europe and beyond, including institutions in China, India, and Malaysia.

Eby Eldho is originally from Kerala in India and studied a Master’s in Business Administration (Applied) and was also a member of the Teesside University Cricket Club.

Eby said: ‘If students are facing any issues regarding their education, I am here to represent them and ensure action is taken.

‘They can pop into the Students’ Union or contact us via email or through our social media platforms.’

I want to ensure students get the best out of the campus experience.

Femi Abolade

Nigil Narayanan Thathron is originally from Kerala in India and studied a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with Advanced Practice here at Teesside University.

Nigil said: ‘We are planning lots of new activities for our new and returning students.

‘I am proud to be here and to represent Teesside University.’

Femi Abolade is originally from Abeokuta in Nigeria and studied a Master’s in Public Health at Teesside University. Femi began his affiliation with the Students' Union through his membership of The Nigerian Society and continues to provide advice to the current Executive Committee of the Society.

He said: ‘It is my responsibility to ensure the wellbeing of students, this includes their general wellbeing, health, accommodation, and any issues they may face.

‘I want to ensure students get the best out of the campus experience.

‘I would like to invite students who are experiencing any difficulties to come to the Students’ Union and see us, we are here to listen and help you make the most of your time at university.’
