Ambitious Teesside students reap the benefits of prominent international partnership

A group of Teesside students have worked collaboratively on a significant six-week fellowship in partnership with a prominent institution in India.

In collaboration with Vishwaniketan Institute of Management Entrepreneurship and Engineering Technology (ViMEET), and Teesside University's School of Computing, Engineering & Digital Technologies and School of Arts & Creative Industries, a group of students worked on a research project to design a deep learning model to detect brain tumour in MRI images.

VIMEET is a world-class institution that offers Indian students an extraordinary learning experience in conjunction with partners across the world.

This program helped them to improve their understanding of research methodologies and developed their skills in cutting-edge technologies including deep learning, image processing, and model deployment. As a result, students were able to effectively design and implement a neural network architecture to segment tumour regions in MRI images.

During this fellowship program, the students gained invaluable experience in several key aspects of machine learning and deep learning and their applications in cancer diagnosis and prognosis.
