'Teesside University has been really helpful to me to reach my goals, as I am working academically to achieve my ambitions.'

I decided to study at Teesside University as I’m a local student and very passionate about Teesside. Sport is also very highly regarded here.

My course is very interesting. We learn about all the different aspects of sport, both physiological and psychological.

The best thing about my course is the range of technology available to analyse and improve sporting performance.

My favourite module is Health Nutrition, learning about how people’s diets differ to meet their individual needs.

As part of my course I have been on placements and had work experience in primary schools and secondary schools. My aim is to become a primary school teacher so having this experience has helped me greatly to understand the role. Once I graduate I want to move onto a PGCE then hopefully get a place in a school.

At University my social life is very good, I play a lot of sport including football and cricket so I spend a lot of time with teammates both on and off the pitch. Teesside also has a great night life with lots of places to go.

I received the University’s £500 Kickstart award when I joined. I also got the £2,000 scholarship for my grades at college. Student services helped explain the financial side of things when all the money came into my bank account.

Teesside University has been really helpful to me to reach my goals, as I am working academically to achieve my ambitions. I’ve really enjoyed working as a student ambassador for the University whilst I’ve been studying. This job has given me opportunities to work in schools which has given me the experience I need before becoming a teacher.

Teesside University has been a great experience for me as it has developed my skills academically and made me more independent when completing work.
