Summer university
Start date: Starts Tuesday 2 June, Tuesday and Thursdays for 4 weeks, 6-9pm
Applications open early April.
You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email summer.university@tees.ac.uk.

Due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. If you are under 18 at the time of enrolment you must provide a completed

What you study
Introduction, what is finance, profit and loss
Balance sheets, cash flow vs. profit, cash management
Company structures, analysis of company reports, introduction to ratios
Ratio analysis
Capital appraisal, appraisal methods, discounted cash flow
Introduction to management accounting, business planning, budgets and controls
Cost behaviour, marginal costing/break-even analysis, accounting in decision making
How you are assessed
One Blackboard online assessment: to produce an informal report between 1,000 – 1,500 words (excluding appendices) in a professional style which evaluates and analyses the performance of a selected UK listed company, comparing it with an appropriate comparable company.

This course has no formal entry requirements and is open to learners of all backgrounds.
International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
