Introduction to Photography

Whether you are new to photography or want to improve your existing skills, this course develops your ability to create and share photographs of which you can be proud. You develop your technical and visual skills as you learn the principles of photography and image editing.

Age restriction
Due to the content and delivery of our Summer University courses, it is advised that applicants are aged 16+ at the time of enrolment. All applicants under the age of 18 at the time of enrolment must provide a completed parental consent form and those under 16 years of age are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Course details

What you study

- still photography cameras, digital technologies, and the principles of their usage
- digital darkroom practices, presenting digital photographs, and photographs on the web
- communicating about your peers and your own work, while receiving and applying constructive feedback
- studio practice, focusing on more foundational skills in the field of photography
- creative thinking with in the production of visual artworks.

How you are assessed

Your assessment is an individual portfolio of your work produced through technical and creative exercises throughout the module (100%).

Minimum hardware and software requirements
- any digital SLR camera
- Adobe Lightroom or GIMP software

When you enrol on this course you can access Adobe Suite through your student account for the duration of your course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
