Academic Skills for Higher Education

Course overview

You gain an insight into the core academic skills for future study at University level. You develop relevant skills in areas such as using academic research, academic writing, effective learning strategies and presentation skills.

Each session includes pre-recorded lectures, a live interactive session with the tutor and asynchronous activities related to the session. You interact with brief presentations of some of those activities. Tutor support is available during the specified weekly times.

Summer university

Start date: Starts Monday 7 June, Mondays and Wednesdays for four weeks, 6.00pm - 9.00pm

Applications open early April.

This course is delivered online. Please check the entry requirements tab before making your application to ensure you meet the entry criteria and have all the minimum equipment necessary to take part.

You can study up to 30 credits at Summer University and you can select up to three modules on the same application form. If you would like to add a module later, or change one of your choices, then please email summer.university@tees.ac.uk.

Age restriction
Due to the content and delivery of this course, you should be 16 at the time of enrolment. If you are under 18 at the time of enrolment you must provide a completed parental consent form. How you are assessed

Each week you are tasked with completing a reflective blog, which will form a portfolio alongside a 1,500 word assignment.

 
 

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

As this is an online course you need access to a computer and be comfortable learning through an online platform. A strong and stable internet connection is required, and a webcam and microphone to participate in any interactive elements of the course.

International applicants must have an IELTS overall score of 5.5 or higher.
