Negotiated Learning University Certificate in Postgraduate Continuing Education

The award provides you with the opportunity to select and explore specific areas of professional practice or academic study. You critically evaluate relevant theory and research, linking such theory to your chosen area of study/professional practice, as well as encouraging and facilitating independent and reflective approaches to learning with tutor support.

11 weeks, part-time

Course overview

You are responsible for your own learning with tutorial guidance. The learning contract negotiated between you and your supervising tutor provides a framework for learning and teaching strategies. The form of assessment is also negotiated within the learning contract and includes a reflective paper (4,000 words) which evaluates the impact of the study on personal learning and professional practice. A seminar in week two of the term is used to discuss the process of negotiating a learning contract and models of reflective learning. Advice and guidance are also available online through the University's blackboard site. A maximum of six hours of individual tutorials takes place at agreed times during the term with your supervising tutor. The use of email for tutorial advice is encouraged.
