What made you want to study at Teesside?

I previously studied a Higher National Certificate and a Higher National Diploma in mechanical engineering at Teesside University so I had some existing knowledge. Teesside offers industrial relevant course content which is critical to ensuring our learning is relevant.

Why did you choose your course?

Once I finished my HNC and HND I decided to switch to petroleum and gas engineering as this was a more relevant subject. Teesside University offers a great pathway from a HND to a top-up degree so the decision was easy.

Tell us the best thing about the course?

It offers industrial relevant modules ranging from upstream to downstream, reservoir engineering to production engineering and covered the whole spectrum of petroleum engineering – I could learn across industry specific modules. My favourite modules were Well and Drilling Completion, and with Reservoir Rock and Fluid Properties.

Did you use any of the campus facilities?

The library offers a great opportunity to learn outside study hours, the facilities are of the highest standard and the staff are always there to help if needed. The campus offers great incentives to prospective and current students, arranging events that keep students at Teesside University engaged and stimulated during and in-between their studies.

Would you recommend studying at Teesside University?

I would recommend Teesside University to anyone who wants an industry related course at the highest standard. The professors and lectures at the University do their upmost to ensure that the information we learnt was understood and they will help at any opportunity.

How has the BEng (Hons) Petroleum and Gas Engineering (Top-up) degree helped you progress in your career?

I have progressed on to an MSc Petroleum Engineering at Teesside University - a great opportunity to further my knowledge in the sector I wish to work.
