Student satisfaction on the rise at Teesside

The National Student Survey (NSS) has revealed today that Teesside University has risen above the national average for the satisfaction of its 20,000 strong student community with overall satisfaction rising again to 87% - above the national average of 86%, placing it in the UK’s top sixty universities.

Teesside’s Students’ Union was also ranked again as one of the best in the country, with overall satisfaction at 85%, placing it in the top 10 of all UK university Students ’ Unions.

The University achieved a particularly high score in relation to its provision of Learning Resources of 90% - ahead of the national average of 87%. In the areas of Academic Support and Personal Development Teesside also outperformed the sector with scores above the national average, whilst in individual subject areas Teesside’s Fine Art students are the most satisfied in the UK with a 100% satisfaction rating while law, radiography and nursing students put Teesside in the UK top ten for satisfaction.

Teesside has invested more than a quarter of a billion pounds in its town centre campus in recent years, putting the student and learning experience at the heart of its plans for growth. Investment continues with a further £6m committed to the refurbishment of the University’s iconic library building in Campus Heart as well as enhancements to student support, accommodation, classrooms and technology across the campus.

International students have also ranked Teesside as one of the best in the world with the International Student Barometer (ISB) revealing Teesside University to be one of the top three universities in the UK for overall satisfaction with the best personal tutors in the world.

‘It’s clear that the massive recent investment in facilities like the new Campus Heart and in new staff has had a very positive impact.
