Following the August 2024 riots, the Victim Care and Advice Service and Restorative Cleveland have been working closely with victims and with those arrested and imprisoned for their part in the disorder.
Many of these individuals have now been released and have expressed genuine remorse, including writing letters of apology.
Staff and students are being offered the opportunity to engage with these apologies in a safe and supportive setting. The process is completely anonymous.
Two supportive sessions will be held on campus, where staff from the Victim Care and Advice Service will read the letters aloud.
These sessions will be held in Middlesbrough Tower. Monday's session is in M5.02 and M5.03. Tuesday's session is in M6.05 and M6.06.
Trained Victim Care Officers as well as support staff from Teesside University will be present throughout to offer confidential emotional support.
