Trans Day of Remembrance

We are proud to mark Trans Day of Remembrance with a reading of those who sadly lost their lives due to hate crime, and a talk by Dr Kenneth Moore which brings queer representation of Roman myths and legends to life,

Tuesday 18 November, 2.30pm - 3.30pm, T2.04, The Curve Trans men in ancient roman myth and legend This talk by Dr Kenneth Moore is around his recent research paper on The heroic tale of Caenis/Caeneus, transphobic centaurs, potential trans allies and Ovid’s apparent obsession with transmen in the Metamorphoses Book XII.

Thursday 20 November, 12pm - 1pm, Campus Heart. We mark the trans lives lost over the year due to hate crime. Every year the list gets longer and sadly there are names on there of people who supported our university during a TDOR ceremony in 2021. The LGBTQ+ focus group would like to invite our university community who would like to show their respect to the victims by meeting in the heart of campus to watch the presentation on the big screen. After the showing there will be a precession to the TDOR memorial garden area for a minute's silence.
