Teesside University shortlisted for national award recognising outstanding student support

Teesside University has been shortlisted for a prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Award which recognises its commitment to supporting students.

The University is shortlisted in the Outstanding Support for Students category for transforming support for disabled students.

By developing a new online Student Support Plan system, Teesside University enhanced the experience and outcomes of disabled students, ensuring they receive the right support at the right time.

With a commitment to making support as accessible, effective and student-centred as possible, the collaborative project was led by the Disability Support Team with input from departments and schools across the University.

This is the latest recognition for Teesside University, which is currently the THE University of the Year 2025.

Professor Mark Simpson, Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Teesside University, said: “Being shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the dedication of colleagues across the University who are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience for all students.

“Supporting students is at the heart of everything we do, so recognition in the Outstanding Support for Students category is particularly meaningful.”

The THE Awards celebrate excellence across higher education, recognising institutions and individuals who have made an exceptional contribution.

The winners will be announced at the THE Awards ceremony on Thursday 26 November 2026.
