The scheme reflects a shared commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive student experience, ensuring students have access to the resources they need to thrive both academically and personally. Students who received support welcomed the initiative, highlighting the positive difference it has made to their university experience.
Speaking about the project, Emmanuel said: “Seeing the smiles and appreciation from the women was a powerful reminder that leadership is about making a real difference in people’s lives.”
The project was delivered in collaboration with Women Today NE and its founder, Teesside graduate Locardia Chidanyika, with plans in place to develop the initiative into a regular monthly programme to continue supporting students and addressing their needs.
By working closely with community partners such as Women Today NE, Teesside University and the Students’ Union are helping to foster a culture of belonging, remove barriers to participation, and create opportunities for students from all backgrounds to succeed.
