World COPD Day

Join us on World COPD Day for a day of engaging activities that raise awareness of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and explore the wider themes of breathlessness, balance and physical activity.

The event brings together Teesside University researchers, health and exercise professionals and people with lived experience of lung disease to share knowledge and deliver practical, hands-on activities.

You’ll also have the chance to see how research within the School of Health and Life Sciences is supporting people living with chronic breathlessness related to COPD and other lung conditions.

Activities include:

• Walking Challenge - help us collectively cover the Cleveland Way (109 miles).
• Meet the Expert Patient - chat with members of Breathe Easy Darlington and hear their stories.
• Interactive research displays, wellbeing workshops and games.
Get involved

Two treadmills will be running from 10am–4pm, with part of the distance covered by Breathe Easy members who have chronic lung conditions themselves. If you would like to sign up for a leg (15 minutes or 1 hour - it all helps!) please contact Elena Calin at e.calin@tees.ac.uk.

This event is free and open to all staff and students. Come along and join us in celebrating World COPD Day with a day of learning, movement and inspiration!
