Time Travel at Teesside

21 February 2005

Teesside’s industrial heritage will be remembered at a special free screening of a film about chemical giant ICI at the University of Teesside. The film, ICI on Teesside: Chemicals & Community, will be shown on Wednesday 2 March, 2pm – 3pm. The film will be shown at the Constantine Cinema (Main Lecture Theatre) in the Constantine Building, off Borough Road, Middlesbrough.

The film, presented by The Northern Region Film & Television Archive which is based at the University, includes archive footage of ICI Billingham and Wilton and their impact on life in the region, including a 1956 visit to Wilton by the Queen.

The voice-over for the film is provided by Brian Barker, Film Archive Education Officer. He said: “ICI was one of the region’s key employees and played a huge part in many people’s lives. This film is a must for anyone with an interest in Teesside’s past or a personal connection with ICI, especially employees from the 1940’s to the 1960’s.”
