Who wants to be a millionaire?

17 August 2007

Yasmine Chaudhry, the new Chief Executive of County Durham Primary Care Trust, included a surprise twist when she delivered a presentation at the School of Health & Social Care staff conference. After providing a thought provoking presentation on forthcoming challenges in primary care she invited two delegates to participate in a PCT version of ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’.

The University and HAZ are producing a video to encourage young pregnant women aged between 16 and 25 to quit smoking. They need volunteers in this age group who have quit smoking or reduced their intake, to appear in a video, which will be filmed locally. Midwives in Redcar, East Cleveland and Middlesbrough, will use the completed video as part of a quit smoking campaign, targeting young pregnant women.

Dr Marian McDonald, Principal Lecturer in the University's Post-Graduate Institute for Health, said: "Volunteers can help other pregnant women in the region who want to quit smoking or are in the process of doing so. We want the volunteers to share their experiences in quitting or reducing smoking. The women need to be in the early to mid-stages of pregnancy." Travel expenses will be paid.
