Double Fellowship success

22 July 2008

One of our high flying graduates, who is already making a name for himself in the field of digital innovation, is off to America to learn from the world’s leading companies.

Richard Mairs, of Gizmo Visual Studios, has won a place on the prestigious annual NCGE Kaufmann Fellowship – he’s the second of our graduates to win a place.

Only 12 Fellowships are granted each year to the UK university sector. Stuart Varrall, of Fluid Pixels, is just coming to the end of his six month Fellowship.

Neil Hannah, New Business Manager, says: ‘It is exceptionally good news for two of our graduate businesses to win two consecutive fellowships out of 12 a year granted to the UK university sector.’

The Fellowship is designed to give entrepreneurs valuable knowledge and experience and encourage successful UK graduates to develop high intensity, high impact businesses.

Richard will spend six months in Kansas City where he will develop links with the entrepreneurial environment in America and learn from the world’s leading companies.

Richard graduated in 2003 with a BA (Hons) Creative Visualisation and in 2005 with an Msc Multimedia Applications.

His company, Gizmo Visual Studios, is a technology and software development company which provides interactive solutions and consultancy to drive learning and creativity.

Using hardware and software technology, it develops content and learning methods that can be used in educational establishments, training environments and professional development for businesses.

Richard was one of hundreds of graduates from across the UK who applied for the NCGE Kaufmann Fellowship.
