Team of the Year Award for star students

24 November 2008

Three students who represented the School of Arts & Media have been celebrating after winning a prestigious award.

Kim Richards, Jo Beech and Philippa Balding showed commitment and passion and went above and beyond the call of duty to scoop the School Representatives Team of the Year Award 2008.

They were handed their award at a lavish dinner at which they were praised for their outstanding team work and relationships with academic staff and management.

The School Representatives system was introduced during the 2007/08 academic year to boost the relationships between students and staff and ensure the best possible standard of education.

Proud of their fantastic achievement Philippa, a BA (Hons) Media Studies student, said winning the award showed all their hard work and enthusiasm had paid off.

She added, ‘Since starting the role at the beginning of my second year, I have met lots of new friends, my confidence has grown immensely and I have become involved in things I would have never done before.

‘I have learned lots of new skills and I am very proud to have been part of the representative system.’

Jo is a BA (Hons) Interior Architecture and Design graduate who is now studying for her MA Future Design.

Reflecting on the award, she said, ‘Winning the award meant a lot to us and rewarded our hard work over the year. I hope this year we are able to build on last year’s success.’

Kim, a BA (Hons) English Studies graduate, said winning the award was a fantastic achievement.

She added, ‘I am confident that the good work we did in 2007/08 will be carried on by Philippa and Jo, as well as their new team member Simon McShannon.’
