Keynote address focuses on Neo Victorian Cultures

16 September 2013

Dr Helen Davies, a Senior Lecturer and Programme Leader in English Studies, delivered a keynote address at the 'Neo-Victorian Cultures' conference at Liverpool John Moores University this summer.

Her talk considered the representation of Chang and Eng Bunker, conjoined twins, in neo-Victorian fiction, with particular emphasis on sexuality and disability.

This research for the paper was part of her current book project, Neo-Victorian Freakery: The Cultural Afterlife of the Victorian Freak Show, which will be published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2015.
