Staff profiles

Dr Lisa Baldini

Lecturer in environmental science
I studied geology and worked for the US Government developing environmental technologies for the US army. I did a master's in palaeoecology, studying land snails in the Bahamas to reconstruct past environmental change. I did a PhD in Ireland in palaeoclimatology, researching the geochemistry of stalagmites to reconstruct past climate. I am generally interested in using geochemistry to trace human-environmental interactions through time.

Dr Danny McNally

Lecturer in human geography
I studied human geography as an undergraduate at university because I was fascinated by its unique and critical approach to contemporary issues and topics than spanned across culture, politics, people, and places. My master's and PhD scholarship focused on cultural geography, specifically on the relationship between geography and art practice. I have also worked in urban planning policy for various local authorities in London.

Dr Jens Holtvoeth

Lecturer in geology
I loved studying geology as it influences virtually every process on the Earth's surface, including the rise and fall of societies. You study our planet up close, whilst enjoying the great outdoors. After a year in environmental consultancy, I did a PhD on paleoclimate and the carbon cycle. My main research interests are in palaeoenvironmental science, particularly the impact of past climate changes on ecosystems and societies.
