FOI Complaints and Appeals

If you want to complain about how your information request has been handled or appeal against information that has been withheld there are three stages:

  • Informally speak to the person who supplied the information or contact Legal & Governance Services. You are under no obligation to do this but we hope to resolve most queries quickly without the need for a formal complaint
  • Make a formal complaint or appeal in writing to the Head of Information Governance, Legal and Governance Services, Middlesbrough, TS1 3BX, or email foi@tees.ac.uk. This will prompt an internal review of the actions taken and the response provided to you. We will acknowledge your request and will confirm what action will be taken and the anticipated timescales for completing the review. We aim to provide a comprehensive reply within 20 working days.
  • If you are still dissatisfied you should refer your complaint to The Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
