Are you a bookworm?

Forming part of the Teesside University alumni benefits and services range, graduates are welcome to use the University’s state-of-the-art library. We operate an external membership scheme which allows borrowing completely free of charge.

As a valued part of Teesside’s community, graduates can:

  • use the library space – in the week, as well as on weekends, during staffed hours
  • borrow up to 12 standard loan items for up to four weeks
  • use our telephone or online service to renew your loans
  • search our collections in advance on The Catalogue
  • relax in the Food Quarter.
Getting your library membership is easy. You need to initially request proof of your graduate status from the Alumni Team and then apply to the Library to request your external membership. You will typically receive a response within five working days of your request.

Rachael Barker, Head of Alumni Engagement and Stakeholder Development said, ‘Providing graduate access to the University Library is an important element of our philosophy of being a graduate’s partner for life. Connection with Teesside need not end once your initial studies are over. The library is your safe and welcoming space for continued learning and engagement.’

The library has been invaluable for me as I’ve made good use of the library tutors who were able to check through my work before I submitted my assignments. They gave really good tips and pointers. The library has been a welcoming place, not just where I’ve accessed books!

Anna Carruthers, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, 2023

2024 will see the library host as series of alumni author nights, and everyone is welcome - keep an eye on our events listings.

We’re also undertaking a £2.1m refurbishment of the library’s ground floor. See latest developments.
