A new Dawn for University of Teesside student

A long-term interest in business and a strong commitment to study has paid dividends for University of Teesside graduate Dawn Richardson. For Dawn, 24, from Eaglescliffe, has achieved triple success, with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies, a prestigious award and a new job as a trainee accountant.

Dawn has started her new career as a trainee accountant with international accountancy firm Deloitte & Touche in Newcastle. She came joint top on her degree said: “I chose business studies because I have always been interested in it, I got an A* for GCSE and an A for ‘A’ level. You cover a wide range of subjects, giving you a broad base of knowledge. I could have gone into pretty much any area of business with this degree. I decided on accountancy because of the opportunities and the experience I’d gain from the many different kinds of businesses you deal with”.

In addition to her First Class degree, Dawn also received the Teesside Business School Award for the best Undergraduate dissertation, which explored relationship marketing.

Dawn is the first in her family to graduate from University and added: “I’m only just beginning my career and can’t wait to see what the future as in store for me.”

Dawn is the daughter of Pat and John Richardson.

She graduates on Thursday 29 November.
