Call me Matron, says Professor

17 April 2002

Professor Brian Footitt, Director of Nursing Development at South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust and a Visiting Professor at the University of Teesside, will be delivering a talk called Call Me Matron, 20/20 Vision on Wednesday 1 May.

The lecture will begin at 6.30pm at the University’s Europa Building, Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough, with refreshments available from 6pm.

Professor Footitt said: “My lecture is a review of the evolution of nursing leadership and the renewed interest in the re-introduction of the Matron in NHS Hospitals. I want to compare the behavioural traits of Florence Nightingale as opposed to today's nurse leadership styles and look how this may develop further by the year 2020.”

The South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust includes The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough General Hospital, North Riding Infirmary West Lane Hospital and The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.
