Packed programme for Adult Learners' Week

The world of forensic investigation, designs for the future and the Virtual Reality experience, all these and more will be available from the University of Teesside during Adult Learners' Week, from Saturday 11 May - Friday 17 May.

Adult Learners' Week is a national initiative that aims to widen access to learning opportunities and encourage adults to return to study. The University is organising a number of free events both at its campus in Middlesbrough and in community centres across the region. Advice and guidance sessions will be available each day from Monday 13 - Thursday 16 May, from 2pm-6.45pm on the first floor of the Student Centre, near the CAMEO coffee bar (entrance behind the Dickens Inn pub, Southfield Road, Middlesbrough). Information will be available on all of the University's courses, ranging from short taster courses to Masters Degrees.

Tuesday 14 May The World of Forensic Investigation

Held at both Future Regeneration of Grangetown (FROG), The Lincs Centre, 24a The Bungalows, Grangetown from 10am -11.30am and on Thursday 16 May at South Bank Women's Centre, Upper Albion Street, South Bank from 12.30pm-2.30pm. How does a crime officer find and record evidence at the scene of a crime? This session will explore different types of evidence, such as fingerprints, footwear and fibre and you can also gain some hands-on experience.

Wednesday 15 May the Virtual Reality HemispheriumTM

Tours of the University's Virtual Reality (VR) Centre will take place at the Innovation & Virtual Reality Centre, off Stephenson Street, Middlesbrough. Explore VR versions of Middlesbrough, Gisborough Priory and become a fighter pilot. Tours will be held from 1.00-1.20pm, 1.40-2.00pm, 3.00-3.20pm and 3.40-4pm.

Thursday 16 May 12.30pm to 3pm-Snapshots of Hemlington

Held at Hemlington Initiative Centre, Cass House Road, Hemlington, Middlesbrough. Locals are invited to bring in their old community photographs and family pictures, and scan them using a computer scanner. You are also invited to scan your own face and take digital pictures out on the street. All of the completed images will be displayed on a website image gallery.

Wednesday 15 May 9.30am-12.30pm and Friday 17 May 1.30pm-4pm-Design Exhibition

Held at the University's main campus, First Floor, Constantine Building, this will display work by students from the University's range of Design degrees. Information will also be available on all full and part-time design courses.
