The course is supported by the European Union and funding will cover fees and some childcare and travel costs. It will run from 25 September 2002 to 8 May 2003 with breaks to coincide with school holidays, including half terms. Classes will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 2 pm.
Subjects covered include:
Essential IT - an introduction to the basic use of computers and their applications, including the Internet
Word processing, spreadsheets and databases
Communication and study skills
Numeracy
Each module assessment leads to credits that contribute to the award of University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development.
Students will have full access to all University facilities, including the Learning Resource Centre, sport and recreation facilities, and the Students’ Union.
