CBI Chief speaks at Annual Business School Lecture

17 October 2002

Digby Jones, Director General of the CBI, will deliver this year’s Annual Teesside Business School lecture at the University of Teesside on Wednesday 30 October, in the University’s Innovation & Virtual Reality Centre Lecture Theatre, from 7pm-8pm.

Professor John Wilson, Director of Teesside Business School, said: “I am extremely pleased that we have been able to attract such a prestigious speaker as Digby Jones to the University. The lecture will also provide an opportunity for business people to network and hopefully benefit from this regional event. It’s a further example of how Teesside Business School is reaching out to the business community.”

Entertainment before the lecture will be provided at 5.30pm on the Second Floor, Clarendon Building, by a jazz quintet, the Noel Dennis Band.

By day Noel Dennis lectures in Marketing with Teesside Business School, and at night plays trumpet and flugelhorn with the band.

Noel, 23, from Ingleby Barwick, graduated from the University in 1999 with a First Class degree in Marketing and now works alongside his former lecturers. The group is a real family affair; Noel plays alongside his father and younger brother Adam, 19, who enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music this autumn. The group have played in a range of venues, including regular stints at Middlesbrough’s Dickens Inn, the Stockton International Riverside Festival and Disneyland Paris.

Noel said: “Teesside Business School is a fantastic team to be part of. It’s nice to be involved in the Digby Jones lecture, where we’ll be playing a short set of post-bop jazz beforehand.”
