Anastasia has designs to market

22 November 2002

Anastasia Boanas first gained an enthusiasm for design at the age of 15 when studying at Egglescliffe School. Now, six years later, her interest has reaped dividends, as she has graduated from the University of Teesside with a BA (Hons) degree in Design Marketing and clinched a new post as a Marketing Manager with the Qnet Group in Stockton. She has also gained the Audi Best Student project award for the Design Marketing degree.

Anastasia, 21, from Eaglescliffe, enrolled at the University after achieving a BTEC National Diploma in Graphic Design at Cleveland College of Art & Design. She said: “I’ve always liked designing original projects. I chose Design Marketing as it was more realistic, looking at everyday products and services. There was lots of variety in the degree and the opportunity to complete live projects. The lecturers were supportive as well, always there if you needed help.”

Nutec, a national health and safety company, commissioned Anastasia’s prize-wining project. She designed promotional material for Nutec’s courses that are targeted at Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs). Her campaign included a web site, a brochure, CD ROM and direct marketing. Anastasia said: “The project also led to my current job, as I contacted Qnet as part of my market research, and they got back in touch about the Marketing Manager’s post. I was over the moon.”

Qnet are an IT and communications company, and as Marketing Manager Anastasia is in charge of all forms of marketing, has designed the company web site and developed a business ID. Anastasia added: “The degree has taught me everything I need to know, it was all relevant. My parents Susan and John are so pleased about the prize, they couldn’t believe it.”
