See metal on the move at Animex™

Local artist David Williams is hosting a free exhibition of his unique, moving 'animatronic' artwork at the Cleveland Centre from Saturday 18 January to Sunday 2 February, 10.30am - 4.30pm, as part of Animex™ , Middlesbrough's celebration of animation organised by the University of Teesside and Middlesbrough Council. And anyone visiting the exhibition will also have the chance to win one of his fantastic automatic drawing machines, valued at over £700!

The exhibition, free to enter, is on the first floor at the Cleveland Centre, Middlesbrough, accessed via the Grange Road entrance.

David's artwork is made of metals (Meccano is one of his favourites), rivets, nuts and bolts and driven by motors, to produce unusual, moving art. Beautiful, pleasing, thought provoking and moving, the pieces include metal balls that make their way (often precariously) around helter-skelter rides and drawing machines that automatically create drawings. They have to be seen to be believed. David, whose recent shows in London and Brighton were great success, said: "I'm really pleased to be able to have some of my work included at Animex™ and to share my life's passion for drawing and moving objects. I'll also be giving one of my machines away and all people have to do in order to win one is to come along to the show and put their name in the hat. I'm sure people will enjoy the show because I would like to consider my work both accessible and immediate."
