University advice and guidance under one roof

10 February 2003

A new advice and guidance centre is set for launch at the University of Teesside. The Course Information Centre (CIC) is located near the University’s main reception in the Middlesbrough Tower. Fiona Blacke, Chief Executive of Connexions Tees Valley, will officially launch the centre on Wednesday 12 February at 3.15pm. Connexions Tees Valley is a new service that provides support, advice and guidance to all young people aged 13 to 19 in the Tees Valley.

Staff will be available (Monday-Friday from 9.00am-4.30pm) in the CIC for an informal chat, or you can make an appointment for a one-to-one advice and guidance session. Advice is available about all of the University’s courses, ranging from short courses taught in community centres to post-graduate qualifications.

University of Teesside courses are also taught in Further Education partnership colleges. Information on these programmes is also on hand in the CIC. The partnership colleges are: Bishop Auckland College, Cleveland College of Art & Design, Darlington College of Technology, Derwentside College, Hartlepool College of Further Education, Middlesbrough College, Redcar & Cleveland College and Stockton Riverside College.

Tom Taylor, Acting Director of Lifelong Learning, said: “The University of Teesside has pioneered a wide range of exciting and innovative part time and short courses. Our new Course Information Centre is a showcase for these as well as our full time courses.”
