Honorary graduate discusses a fascinating career

Peter Middleton, Chairman of Tees Valley Regeneration, will speak about his diverse career at the University of Teesside on Wednesday 2 April from 6.30-7.30pm. Mr Middleton’s free lecture is part of the University’s Honorary and Professorial Lecture series that celebrates ten years of University status.

The lecture will take place in the University’s Europa Building, Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough, with an opportunity for audience questions at the end of the lecture. Refreshments will be available from 6pm.

Peter Middleton received an honorary Doctorate in Law from the University in 1997. Born in Hull, Peter’s father worked at ICI on Teesside. Peter was educated at St. Mary’s RC College, Middlesbrough and he remains a passionate supporter of Middlesbrough Football Club.

After college, Peter spent several years in a monastery before reading philosophy at the University of Paris. Following this he joined the diplomatic service and later Midland Bank. In 1987 he was appointed as Chief Executive of Lloyds and five years later joined Saloman Brothers, a major investment banking and securities firm. His post with the latter was Chief Executive of European Operations. Mr Middleton’s other posts include Chief Executive of the World Snooker Association and Chairman of the Football League.
