Special film for Older People at University of Teesside

24 March 2003

The University of Teesside is hosting a special film about the last 150 years of Middlesbrough as part of a weeklong events aimed to entertain the older generation.

The film will be shown at the University Cinema in Room H001 of the Centuria Building, off Victoria Road, Middlesbrough, on Wednesday 26 March from 2pm – 4pm.

Les Fawcett, Chair of the South Cleveland Community Council, said: “There are lots of events around Middlesbrough for older people this week, including a Get Active Roadshow and a conference on Better Government for Older People. I’m really looking forward to the film at the University though as it will be a great chance to look back and see the way things used to be. It’s open to anyone over 50 and you don’t have to book – just come along and take a seat. You never know, you might even see your younger self in the film!”

The weeklong series of events for older people has been organised by the South Cleveland Community Council, Middlesbrough Older Persons’ Partnership Board, the Retired Senior Volunteers Programme, Middlesbrough Council, and Middlesbrough Primary Care Trust and the University of Teesside.
