Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Adult Numeracy for Subject Specialists

Sharon Powell, Course Leader, said: “The government is keen to promote the importance of adult essential skills education, and the University of Teesside fully backs the 'Get On North East' campaign, headed by Government Office North East, to promote this essential area of adult education by providing teacher training qualifications geared towards this area of work.

“As there is likely to be a future shortage of teachers to meet the growing demand for adult essential skills education it is fantastic that these teacher training opportunities are being made available locally by the university. Currently, there is a lot of investment going into this area both to promote adult essential skills education and to increase the numbers of qualified teachers to work in the field, and with the demand for teachers rising it is a great opportunity for individuals to re-train and change career path.”

The general public are likely to be aware of the 'Get On North East' campaign as a series of TV advertisements featuring 'gremlins' and with the slogan, 'get rid of your gremlins'.

There are a number of grants and one off payments available to support the payment of course fees.
