Clearing the way to a new future

06 August 2003

Many students are expected to ring the University of Teesside’s help lines after receiving their 'A' level results on Thursday 14 August 2003 to confirm their place at university. Known as ‘Confirmation and Clearing’, and lasting until mid-September, the aim is to match potential students to courses which still have vacancies. It has also become increasingly popular with people making late applications to university.

The help lines swing into action from Thursday 14 to Wednesday 20 August.

The numbers to ring are:

General Enquiries - 01642 384243 from 8:30am until 8:30pm Teesside Business School - 01642 342807 from 8:30am until 5:00pm School of Computing - 01642 342639 from 8:30am until 5:00pm School of Health & Social Care - 01642 384110 from 8:30am until 5:00pm School of Arts & Media - 01642 384019 from 8:30am until 5:00pm School of Social Sciences & Law - 01642 342308 from 8:30am until 5:00pm School of Science & Technology - 01642 342499 from 8:30am until 5.00 pm On Saturday 16 August staff will be available from 10:00am until 4:00pm.

Kathryn Turnbull, University of Teesside Academic Registrar, said: “The Clearing help lines are intended to provide students with detailed information on current vacancies and entry requirements, and staff will be able to advise students on how to proceed with their application. If students are unsure about what course they would like to take, staff will be able to point them in the right direction to receive guidance about suitable courses.”

A range of Foundation degrees are also available. These courses are tailored for people already in work, or with a very clear career direction.
