The University of Teesside’s Open Day takes place on Wednesday 10 September. It’s free, open to all members of the public and runs from 10.30am-4pm. Among the many courses you can explore are the following:

BA (Hons) Advertising Management 3 years full-time

The first degree of its kind in the UK, BA (Hons) Advertising Management offers students who do not have a background in art or graphics the opportunity to study how advertising is managed rather than concentrating simply on design and creative issues.

This interesting course will produce graduates with a distinctive profile that should help to make them stand out from the crowd.

BA (Hons) Television Production Professional Practice 3 years full-time

This course involves a high level of live production experience in the University's Media Centre, with students working in close contact with professional programme producers and directors. It focuses on factual and news-based or documentary programme making.

Graduates will be very well placed to seek immediate entry into the television industry as members of production teams.

This course has been designed to develop professional skills and practice over a range of contemporary communications media, including radio, television and Internet-based media.

Students will develop essential skills in computers, the Internet, writing for the media, video and audio recording and editing. It also includes studies of the media industries, factual programme making and contents creation for different media, leading to graduates being able to access a variety of media career opportunities.

BSc (Hons) Web Development 4 years sandwich

This exciting and innovative degree aims to produce a new sort of engineer - an Internet expert able to respond both methodically and creatively to industrial and commercial needs. They will be able to draw upon technology, design and production expertise to develop and manage large-scale online multimedia projects.

The course integrates three major themes: Internet Technology, Software Development and Multimedia Authoring.

The widespread use of the World Wide Web within both the public and private sectors means that there are already many career opportunities for people with the skills developed on this course.

BSc (Hons) Media and Music Technology 3 years full-time, 4 years sandwich

Entertainment, communication and business are daily functions of the web for more and more people. Music, videos, interactive games and educational material all benefit from the animated, multimedia content of the web. This degree combines the creative worlds of digital media technology and music technology for musically inclined students who wish to learn skills in production, music studies and equipment, PC-based recording and MIDI systems.

Two main themes run through the programme. Media Technology includes networks and protocols, web page design, graphic design and ergonomics, sound engineering and production, and video and audio streaming. Music Technology develops an initial study of acoustics, music language, computer music systems and audio electronics to include modern composition, creative production and synthesis.
