The world’s a stage at Teesside

21 October 2003

Captain Cook and Charlotte Bronte’s heroine Jane Eyre will both be in the spotlight at the University of Teesside in two separate stage productions.

Three Over Eden present Endeavour: Newfound Notes

Monday 3 November, 7pm, in the Main Hall of the Middlesbrough Tower

Now that the Endeavour has docked at Middleshaven, why not see the travels of Captain Cook on stage. His journeys are set to poetry and performed on stage by renowned theatre group Three Over Eden. The poems are interspersed with sea shanties and dramatic scenes on a simple, yet highly effective set. The play is a dramatic interpretation of Captain Cook’s many travels not a strictly accurate history show.

Tickets: £4 (£2.50 concessions for unwaged, students, children and senior citizens)

Saturday 22 November, 7.30pm, in the Main Hall of the Middlesbrough Tower

Orphaned and alone, Jane accepts a position as a governess at Thornfield Hall. Three months pass and there is no sign of the elusive Mr Rochester, until one day, out walking, Jane encounters the master of the house as he falls from his horse and falls for Jane. But who is wailing in the night? Why is Rochester so grumpy? Why does it rain all the time?
