Paul’s hat trick

25 November 2003

Sport-mad Paul Bradley has will score a hat trick when he graduates from the University of Teesside today with a First Class Honours degree in BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science, as well as two academic awards.

Paul, 24, from Thornaby, has continued with his studies at Teesside by enrolling on a Masters course in Sport & Exercise Science and then aims to do a PhD. Paul also works part-time at Middlesbrough Football Club as sport scientist for the football academy where he is involved in the training and fitness assessments for the youth players.

Paul said: “I’ve always been interested in sport and really enjoyed the course. Winning two academic awards was a really nice surprise and made getting the degree even more special.”

The University’s new £6.5 million Olympia building opened in September. Paul said: “It’s amazing. I’ll be able to use its research facilities for my Master’s course and I’m sure there will be a huge increase in sport science research carried out at Teesside.”

Paul, who is the first in his family to attend university, will receive the Human Kinetics Outstanding Student Award and the O’Neill’s International Sportswear Best Final Year research Project Award. His final year project assessed the effects of different stretching exercises on the production of power during jumping.
