The Arc in Stockton has been chosen to showcase a selection of Britain’s newest and most innovative animators.

A selection of Britain’s newest animated music videos, TV adverts and short films will be presented at the Arc, Dovecot Street; Stockton-on-Tees, over 3 days, on Wednesday 28 January, Thursday 29 January and Friday 30 January. And the public are invited to come along at 10am each day to vote for their favourite, free of charge. Audiences watching the showcase will be asked to vote for their favourite animations in three categories: Best Music Video, Best Short Film and Best Advertisement.

The screenings are part of the British Animation Awards’ national Public Choice Festival, which runs from 28 January to 26th February. The results of the Public Choice voting will be announced at the glittering British Animation Awards Ceremony, to be held at The Shaw Theatre, Bloomsbury in London on Friday 19 March 2004 and will be attended by all the top talent in the UK animation industry.

Jayne Pilling Director of The British Animation Awards, which take place every two years, said: “We were absolutely delighted when The Arc agreed to showcase some of the entries in our Public Choice Festival for The British Animation Awards. It’s a great venue with a strong heritage of innovative screenings.

“This year we have a fabulous selection of nominations across the three categories Best Music Video, Best Advert and Best Short Film. These are animations, which will take audiences through a vast array of different emotions, fantastic countries and amazing scenarios. The British Animation Industry really is the best in the world and we are delighted that The Arc will be supporting us in our endeavour to take examples of the crème of British animation across the UK.”
