Law and Order at Teesside

Crime and punishment in the region will be explored in a free lecture at the University of Teesside on Wednesday 8 December 2004. The lecture will be delivered by His Honour Judge Peter Fox.

As the Senior Circuit Judge and Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Fox is a highly eminent member of the legal profession and has served the Tees Valley community for many years. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Teesside in 2003 and now returns to deliver his talk as part of the Honorary & Professional Public Lecture Series.

Judge Fox’s lecture, entitled Aspects of law and order on Teesside – A judicial view, will take place in the Centuria building, off Victoria Road, from 6.30 – 8.00pm and covers:

the judicial system crime and punishment community safety the influence of drugs and alcohol on violence the rise of the female criminal who rules the housing estates and town centres child sex abuse whether justice can ever be restorative

There will be an opportunity for audience members to ask questions after the lecture.

The lecture is open to all. Refreshments will be served from 6.00pm and seats will be available on a first come first served basis.
