The award was presented by the Women into the Network, an organisation which aims to provide women entrepreneurs with the right connections and introduce them to the business networks of the North East.
Carol, the who joined the University in 2001, said: “I am a strong supporter of women 's business and women’s activities and assist in as many ways as I can. I help women start businesses, help to build confidence and an awareness of the importance of including women in all areas of business life. Whether it’s help with marketing, using new technology or developing new ideas , I’m always happy to help. I want to see women start on a level playing field in the business world, confident that their ideas and products are valuable and can hold their own in business.”
Carol’s role at the University sees her develop cultural and creative activities, and she is especially keen on creating opportunities for women. During the past few years Carol, who is the chair of Isis Arts – a women’s digital arts company, has set up ‘We Create’, an annual event celebrating women, creativity and culture, and has sourced funding to run a variety of creative and business courses aimed at women.
